Lipid Panel

Lipids are an important part of the body. They are fond in your blood and are stored in tissues. They are critical constituents of cells and sources of energy, as they help to keep your body working normally.

A lipid panel is a blood test that measures lipids- fats and fatty substances that are used as sources of energy in the body. Or in other words it checks your cholesterol levels.

This test is an important test, because cholesterol can clog your arteries as this may lead to heart disease and strokes.

If your diagnosed on a lipid disorder, it certainly means that your having high blood levels of low-density lipo-proteins (LDL) cholesterol, and fats called triglycerides or both.

Lipid panel measures;

  • Total cholesterol level
  • HDL Cholesterol level (‘’good’’ cholesterol)
  • LDL Cholesterol level (‘’bad’’ cholesterol)
  • Triglyceride level
