How a smear test is performed
your experienced female doctor will guide you through the procedure in a calm, private setting. while you lie comfortably, a small instrument called a speculum is gently inserted to view the cervix. a soft brush is then used to collect a small sample of cells from the cervix. the process is quick, usually lasting just a few minutes, with minimal discomfort. the sample is sent to the lab for analysis to detect any abnormal cell changes that may require further care or monitoring.
A smear test involves gently collecting a sample of cells from the cervix using a soft brush. It’s a quick, simple procedure that usually takes just a few minutes.
Women aged 25 to 64 are advised to have regular smear tests. The frequency may vary based on age, previous results, or any risk factors.
Most women experience only mild discomfort. The test is usually well-tolerated and our female doctors ensure it is as comfortable as possible.
Results are typically available within 3 to 5 working days. We’ll notify you promptly and explain any next steps if needed.
An abnormal result doesn’t mean cancer. It means some cervical cells have changed. We’ll guide you through additional testing or treatment if necessary.
